Experiential Knowledge Discovery From Web Data
Nirmalie Wiratunga
Who is:

Dr. Nirmalie Wiratunga is reader (module coordinator for data mining and data bases) at the School of Computing of the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, United Kingdom.

Abstract of communication:

Knowledge reuse is crucial for reasoning systems that utilise experience-based learning strategies. The Web provides a rich source of untapped experiences data, a valuable asset to generate knowledge-rich experience-bases that provide knowledge for reasoning applications such as decision support and recommender systems. Challenges of data heterogeneity and the absence of structure calls for novel data abstraction, aggregation and representation schemes make interesting the discovery of common knowledge structures that unify these data sources to allow more semantic understanding.
